Asteroids with GLIMPSE

At first I did search for Asteroids in the Milky Way Project with the help of volunteers. I found 7 asteroids so far:

[3.6] [4.5] [5.8] [8.0] RA DEC [3.6]-[5.8] [4.5]-[8.0]
number1 11.539 6.383 277.85182 -10.639025 5.156
number2 13.01 11.038 8.292 5.681 274.53129 -14.48069 4.718 5.357
number3 13.394 8.777 284.12023 0.75311769 4.617
number4 12.215 9.39 273.07456 -19.907814
number5 13.268 8.589 5.771 266.57485 -28.600686 4.679
number6 12.785 11.456 8.977 6.182 272.018457 -18.545975 3.808 5.274
number7 14.614 12.318 10.169 7.964 255.676271 -40.128761 4.445 4.354
>11.5 >9 >6.3 >4.5 >3.8 <5.2 >4.3 <5.4

Out of 12 sources in this list only one is listed as a “High-reliability source”.

So I searched the GLIMPSE Source catalog with the following conditions:

List 1:
High-reliability source: A
JHK: no
[3.6]=null
[4.5]>9
[5.8]=null
[8.0]>4.5

List 2:
High-reliability source: A
JHK: no
[3.6]>11.5
[4.5]=null
[5.8]>6.4 (I have made a small mistake here)
[8.0]=null

After this I used the shown limits:
[4.5]-[8.0]4.3 for List 1,
[3.6]-[5.8]3.8 for List 2.

In an area of 200 arcminutes around Number 6, I found 17 sources in List 1 and 161 sources in List 2:

main-belt

The limits do also pick out sources that are stars, so you also see the milky way in this image from top-left to bottom-right. But there is also a thin distribution crossing the milky way. I think this is the main asteroid belt. I have also marked the objects that have a good match of List 1 and List 2.

I did pick one of these sources (the one on the right) and looked if it is an asteroid and it is!
